Artist Melody Bogle's one-woman exhibit opened at The Hidden Lantern last Thursday evening to rave reviews. Word is that the art, Bogle wine and food, including homemade fudge, were all fab. One report by someone who attends all of the receptions was that this one was the best ever. Coop and Peggy Jones, Susan Alfieri, Joan Vienot, Mike and Sherri McCarty, Robert and Malayne DeMars, Claire Bannerman, Charlotte Arnold, Donna Vann, Kelli Siler, Melissa Wheeler, and Shaye Smith were some who enjoyed.

The next night, Children's Volunteer Health Network held its annual Christmas party/fundraiser at LaCocina. Nancy Norris, Peggy and Coop Jones, Mark and Tricia Northcutt, Ray and Vickie Dollar, Hannah and Zach Billingsley enjoyed it.

The same night, Brad and Claudia Droy hosted their annual Christmas party at their lovely Gulf Place home. Les Porterfield, Keith and RoseAnn Knight, Donna and Ed Macdonald, Tom and Dana Saffel, Hank White and Didon Comer, Paul and Sandy Luchtefeld, Tonia Shatzel and Rob Wood, Lorene Gruzdis, Sharon Thompson, Greg and Beverly Schmitt, John Stasko, Georgeen Newell and Ken Golden, Mike and Carol Stovsky, Steve Bacon and Diane Smith, Carla Ravarino, Kelly Klein, and Tom Fillingim attended. Guests enjoyed the lamb pops, socializing, and spilled out to the pool area where they enjoyed the music. Guests who stuck around received a special treat when Brad took the microphone and sang. He's really good. If you haven't already, try to catch him at Marie's Bistro.

Then, Sunday night, Tom and Dana Saffel hosted their annual "pink" party at their home in Gulf Place an embracing of all things pink food, drink, dress which is a prelude to the season's red.

The PPPs (Polka-dot Pool Pussycats) held their annual Christmas party last weekend at Bett and Paul Appel's wonderful Gulf-front home. Didon Comer and Hank White, Nancy and Billy McConnell, Kris and Manny Chavez, Sandy and Paul Luchtefeld, Larry and Melissa Davis, Barbara Riddick, Jan Kubacki, P.J. Johnson, Barbara and Jim Smith, Nina and Garrett Horn, Nan Franklin, Beth and Bob Coppedge, and Pat Carlyle celebrated another year of camaraderie.

Kelli Siler went to see "Every Christmas Story Ever Told and Then Some" at Seaside Rep.

Allison Yii enjoyed the South Walton Ecumenical Choir's performance Monday night.

Congrats to Martin Trejo and Casey Tindell on their wedding last weekend. They are now enjoying a honeymoon in Quebec.

Jeffrey Ellis completed the Florida Holiday Halfathon in Maderia Beach last weekend with a time of 1:46:47 top 10 percent of all runners and 10th in his age group. The finisher's medal now decks his outside tabletop 70s retro funky pink Christmas tree.

Lorre James' turkey meatballs won best entree at the Walton County Realtors' Installation banquet last week.

Speaking of food, if you tire of the parties and shopping, check out Applebee's $5 burgers on Mondays. I recently discovered them with John Stasko, Peggy and Kent Lillie. I saw Chris Scott there. Good burger and great onion rings! 

In travels, Claire Bannerman is just back from a trip to New Orleans to see the Christmas trim. She enjoyed seeing the lobby at the Roosevelt Hotel filled with sparkly whites, silver and gold ... and the Windsor Court lobby with dozens of red poinsettia and a colorful train around the Christmas tree. She said there were lots of red and green glitter on balconies and bridge lights.

Shannon, Ashley, and Edie Johnson visited to Aspen, along with Ashley's mom, Cynthia Archer.

Tiffanie Shelton went to Birmingham.

Peter, Stephanie, and Cam Burke visited Port St. Joe.

Jennifer McAlexander visited New York City.

Condolences are expressed to Sheila Wachsman in the death of her mother.

New Orleans and the rest of the country are mourning the loss of famous Blue Dog artist George Rodrigue. Rodrigue was a frequent visitor to our area. RIP, Blue Dog.
