SANTA ROSA BEACH — Walton County work crews have completed repairs to County Road 30A at Alligator Lake, county officials have announced.
Officials were notified early Thursday that a sinkhole had caused extensive damage to the road about a half-mile west of County Road 283. They believe beaver activity caused the sinkhole to develop.
The county closed the road from CR 283 to County Road 83 while repairs were underway. The job had been completed by Friday afternoon.
"Our public works crews have done a fantastic job making the repairs needed to reopen that section of the roadway," District 5 County Commissioner Tony Anderson said. "It is not always easy to mobilize and work as efficiently as our crews did under an emergency situation."
