The first Pottery Barn store to locate in Northwest Florida opened its doors June 29 at Grand Boulevard with grand aplomb.

The store took 395 reservations for the grand opening event, but judging by the crowds, the store saw more than that number excitedly pass through the doors that night.

Doors did not open until 6 p.m., but eager shoppers began lining up outside long before that. Once inside, shoppers did not seem to mind another wait to receive a free bouquet of flowers. The crowds give credence to the belief that the brand has grown into one of the most recognizable and desirable brands in the country.

"Our leasing team has been working on this for a while," said Grand Boulevard's director of marketing and communication Stacey Brady. "This is wonderful and gratifying to see the fruits of our labor. Pottery Barn's opening at Grand Boulevard means we have arrived."

Pottery Barn opened its first store in 1949 among the docks and warehouses of lower Manhattan offering customers fashionable homewares. Today, the retailer features sophisticated indoor and outdoor furniture, stylish home décor, accessories, and more.

The Grand Boulevard location boasts 12,000 square feet of home displays to inspire customers' decorating potential.

An area has to reach a certain level of respect to attract a store such as Pottery Barn, said Brady.

"We track zip codes and there are so many people who order from this area that it made sense to open a store here," said Store Manager Rhonda Smith.

The Grand Boulevard location is a typical Pottery Barn, said Smith, with one unique decorating touch. The accent wood framing in the display cases is from the Biltmore Hotel in Miami.

Pottery Barn is located on the new west end of Grand Boulevard across from Boulevard 10 Cinema and next to Kinnucan's Specialty Outfitters, which also recently opened. Kinnucan's is an Auburn-based outdoor and lifestyle-inspired store that is affordable and approachable, said Brady, carrying many every-day products such as sun screen.

Store hours for Pottery Barn are from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays.
