DEFUNIAK SPRINGS — A 33-year-old woman was arrested on domestic violence charges after authorities say she hit her boyfriend in the head with a spatula.

According to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, law enforcement officers responded to the couple’s home in reference to a domestic disturbance. A man said he had been in an argument with his girlfriend and the mother of his child, and she had hit him in the head with a spatula. He was bleeding on his head and there was blood found on a metal spatula inside the home.

The man’s girlfriend was not on scene, but she was eventually contacted via phone after many unsuccessful attempts. She told deputies she had been arguing with her boyfriend when he grabbed her. She said she had a broken middle finger. She also admitted to hitting him with the spatula. The woman then told deputies she would not be coming back to Florida because she “did not want to go back to jail.”

Later that day, deputies were on patrol in the area of the address and saw the woman there. They made contact with her and again asked for her version of events. This time, she said he grabbed her hand when she “shot him a bird during their argument” and again admitted to hitting him in the head with a spatula.

She also added she had taken a shovel to the victim’s truck.

Neither party would provide written statements and neither party wanted the other to go to jail, but the woman was arrested and charged with battery/domestic violence, a misdemeanor.
