DeFUNIAK SPRINGS — A Santa Rosa Beach man has been arrested on several drug and weapons charges after someone called Walton County authorities about noon Friday to complain about a reckless driver, according to social media posts from the Walton County Sheriff's Office.
Leigh Cann, 32, of Indian Bayou Road, was arrested after he allegedly ran from a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 98 near the Okaloosa County line, according to the Sheriff's Office. The chase crossed all six lanes of the highway, the Sheriff's Office noted.
A subsequent search of Cann's vehicle revealed a firearm, heroin, cocaine, pills and marijuana, the Sheriff's Office said.
Cann was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed weapon, trafficking in heroin, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest without violence, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Walton County Jail records show that Cann was arrested in 2013 on an out-of-county warrant and on a charge of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
He was charged with a felony parole violation in 2014, according to jail records.
