GRAYTON BEACH — Folks at the beach Sunday afternoon were treated to a sight that sent them running for safety.
At around 3 p.m., a giant cloud shaped like a spaceship appeared and started moving toward them.
"It came out of nowhere and everyone started running in all directions, picking up their chairs," said Jordan Crowder, a Blue Mountain Beach man who captured photos and video of the story. "It looked like a movie.
"It stayed in perfect form and was moving down the beach," he added. "It kept that UFO shape."
Grayton Beach is the only local beach where folks can get permits to drive on the sand. Crowder said that those beachgoers tend to be seasoned veterans who will ride storms out. But that the sight of this storm cloud made even those folks pack up and hit the road.
"There were trucks and Jeeps going in every direction," he said.
The storm moved through in about 20 minutes, bringing lightning and a short, heavy rainfall.
