MIRAMAR BEACH — Construction is about to begin on a new health care facility in the Watersound Origins community in South Walton County.

The new center will be on U.S. Highway 98 at the entrance of Watersound.

Initial plans include a 6,700-square-foot multi-specialty ambulatory clinic offering primary care and OB/GYN services. Site plans will allow for future expansion up to 13,000 square feet to offer space for additional specialty care services.

The facility is being built by Sacred Heart Health System, part of Ascension, in collaboration with Commercial Real Estate Development LLC, a subsidiary of the St. Joe Co.

It should be completed next year, according to a press release from Sacred Heart.

“This new facility supports our mission to offer residents of our community convenient access to expert health care covering a wide range of needs," said Roger Hall, president of Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast.

The connection between Sacred Heart and the St. Joe Co. dates back more than 18 years when St. Joe donated land in Miramar Beach for the site of Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast which opened 15 years ago.
