MIRAMAR BEACH — A suspect believed to the same man who stole several vehicles and burglarized Alvin's Island in Destin apparently has now turned his attention to Walton County.
The Walton County Sheriff's Office is searching for the man after he stole a truck with the keys left inside and burglarized two more vehicles Monday, according to a press release from the Sheriff's Office. He then used a victim's stolen credit card on a shopping spree.
The Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help to identify the suspect who was caught on surveillance video during Monday's burglaries.
Deputies responded about 3 p.m. to Grand Boulevard, where a victim reported his truck had been stolen while he was at work. The truck was located later in a different area of the parking lot. Surveillance video shows the suspect park the stolen truck, get a black Honda Accord and park it, and then take items from the truck and put them in the Honda, the Sheriff's Office reported.
He then entered Ben & Jerry’s and stole car keys from the counter top. After locating that car in the parking lot, he rummaged through it, the release said.
About 4:30 p.m. a third victim reported her purse had been stolen from her vehicle. A stolen credit card was used at a store in Grand Boulevard.
Video footage linked the three incidents.
The black Honda Accord was located at Silver Sands Outlet Mall on Tuesday afternoon.
The suspect looks similar to the man wanted in connection with a theft and burglary spree in Destin last week, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Investigators believe the suspect may still be in the area. He is described as a man with a goatee wearing a black tank top and gray shorts.
