The Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation (MKAF), a not-for-profit charitable arts organization founded in 1995 to be Northwest Florida's champion of cultural arts and arts education for all, breathes new life into an annual event.
Wine, jewelry, champagne tasting, culinary delights, charity raffle, and live entertainment set the stage for the highly anticipated Ruth's Chris Wine Walkabout held at Ruth's Chris Steak House at Silver Shells Resort in Destin.
Celebrating six successful years, event organizers are more focused than ever to come together in support of MKAF's Community Outreach programs.
"It is our mission to build the foundation of arts and culture in this community we love so much,” said Jackie Ely, chairman of MKAF's 2018 Board of Directors. “MKAF Dining for a Cause events, like the Ruth’s Chris Wine Walkabout, provide the critical funding we need to ensure all MKAF Community Outreach programs are successful."
The sixth annual Fall Wine Walkabout takes place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Nov. 8 in the East Bar and Courtyard. New to the event is "Bubbles & Baubles,” where patrons purchase a $50 "bubble" for the chance to go home with a piece of jewelry valued up to $1,000. Those entering also receive a complimentary champagne tasting. Culinary delights provided by Chef Ruston Johnson are paired with select fine wines courtesy of a variety of distributors.
"Once again, Mike Sable's team at Ruth's Chris stage an impressive culinary event as a valuable supporter of the arts,” said Marcia Hull, CEO, Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation. “This annual event provides an opportunity for our members and art enthusiasts to learn the impact of MKAF's cultural contributions to sustain a thriving arts and culture community for our residents and visitors."
A popular feature, the MKAF Wine Pull includes a collection of fine wines donated from wine enthusiasts, wine cellars, distributors, and restaurants. Live entertainment spotlights award winning soul and jazz artist Jones & Company, and rounding out an evening of surprise and delights is the charity raffle featuring a variety of prize packages and exciting experiences.
Tickets are $50 per person or $40 for MKAF members and are available at www.mattiekellyartsfoundation.org. Proceeds fund the foundation's Community Outreach mission to provide cultural outreach programs serving K-12 students, adults and children with special needs, at-risk youth and wounded warriors in the local community.
