The Walton County Snowbirds, a promoter of cultural and athletic activity for Emerald Coast snowbirds, will hold its second registration event of the season on Dec. 3 at Faith Assembly Fellowship Hall, 306 South Geronimo, between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. Soon after, on Dec. 5, the snowbirds will gather for the first general meeting of the season beginning at 10 a.m. at the Destin Life Center Building of the Destin United Methodist Church, 200 Beach Drive, where great door prizes and entertainment await attending members. The featured entertainer is saxophonist/vocalist Michael J Thomas. You cannot have more fun before noon anywhere on the Emerald Coast than at a snowbird general meeting.

John Stephens of Ottawa, Ontario, was among the very first to arrive for the annual renewal of membership that began on Nov. 19. He will lead bicyclists on many biking tours this season. For details on how to get involved, reach him at jstephensca@gmail.com. When returning snowbirds lined up to register for the 2018/2019 season, they did so behind founding member Pat Farwell, formerly of La Crescent, Minnesota, who was signing in for her 29th season. Accepting registrations was Skip Walker of York, Pennsylvania, who is back for his 21st snowbird season.

The golf lineup calls for a golf league on Tuesdays, another on Thursdays, special playdays, a women's charity scramble, a president’s cup tournament and a snowbird cup. Need help with that swing? Help is available at free golf clinics. For information about dates and locations of all golfing events and to keep in touch with group leaders, go to www.waltoncountysnowbirds.com/golf.html.

Plenty of social activity awaits incoming snowbirds beginning with a dinner social at Fudpucker's on Jan. 18 and again on Feb. 8. A dolphin cruise aboard the Southern Star takes place on Jan. 31 and a ladies luncheon featuring a jewelry show will occur at the Crystal Room at the Henderson Inn on Feb. 10.

Those interested in keeping up with the fast-paced computer world will have lots of help if they attend the computer group’s sessions that begin at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 4 at Faith Assembly Fellowship Hall, 306 South Geronimo. Another will occur on Dec. 18, then the sessions start up again on Jan. 9 and then continuing on the second and fourth Tuesdays through the month of February.
