PANAMA CITY — One man is dead and another in jail as authorities investigate a murder at the Northwest Florida Life Management Center, according to official reports.
Brandon Kukowska, 33, of Bay County has been charged with an open count of murder in connection with the death of 60-year-old David Gosset, also of Bay County.
Several details of the incident were not immediately available.
The Panama City Police Department declined to comment on the specifics of the case, due to federal medical privacy laws.
"Because it is a medical facility, there is not much we can say about the nature of their reasons for being there," PCPD Capt. Paul Powell said.
In a press release, PCPD reported that the case initially started with officers responding 5:45 a.m. Thursday morning to a room inside the Life Management Center, 525 E. 15th Street, to an unresponsive male.
“Officers and EMS responded while employees of the facility attempted life-saving measures,” officers wrote. Gosset “was pronounced dead at the scene and detectives responded to investigate the death.”
At some point, officers determined that Gosset’s death was suspicious in nature. They then established probable cause that Kukowska was the person responsible for Gosset’s death, officials reported.
According to a PCPD affidavit, Kukowska allegedly strangled Gosset with a sheet. Kukowska has been charged with an open count of murder. He is at the Bay County Jail awaiting first appearance.
Life Management Center is known for providing behavioral health, substance abuse counseling and family counseling services in Bay, Calhoun, Gulf, Holmes, Jackson and Washington counties in the Florida Panhandle.
