If you live in Okaloosa or Santa Rosa counties, you live in the third and fourth best counties in the state for saving for retirement according to a recent study by financial advising company Smartasset.

The study focused on four factors in every county to determine their findings: a paycheck friendliness score, 401(k) plan performance score, public pension plan performance score and a score for the number of financial advisors per capita.

Santa Rosa County ranked third in the state with a paycheck friendliness score of 85.92 percent, while Okaloosa County ranked fourth with a paycheck friendliness score of 84.71 percent. Only Pinellas and Saint Johns counties beat out the local counties to take the top two spots in the state.

Other factors included what counties allowed individuals to keep most of their paycheck, purchasing power, unemployment and income growth. These aspects were then calculated over a five year period to take into account the annual growth in median income year over year.
