A man was killed after being hit by helicopter blades while driving a truck Thursday afternoon in Hillsborough County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The helicopter carrying two occupants suffered engine failure before crashing on 50th Street at Palm River Road.

The Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was traveling northbound approaching Palm River Road when the driver was fatally struck by one of the turning rotor blades of the helicopter.  

No other injuries are currently reported.
