The Veterans Tribute Tower Committee will host Dr. David Ott and the David Ott Singers in a free concert at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fort Walton Beach at 3:30 p.m. May 19. The program will feature the Fauré Requiem in recognition of Memorial Day observances a week later. The Philharmonic Orchestra and David Ott Singers will also present patriotic offerings including the service medleys in honor of our service members. As in previous concerts, there will be a love offering taken to benefit several local charities including the Air Force Enlisted Village, Salvation Army, and Catholic Charities.
Dr. David Ott is music director and organist at Christ the King Episcopal Church, conductor Of The Panama City Pops Orchestra, NWF Ballet Orchestra, and hits the keyboard for us from time to time with any number of talented folks. What you may not know is how many Memorial Services at 7th Group and Eglin that he has lent his considerable musical talent to services helping military members and their families deal with the loss of loved ones. He also was the first person to play the organ at the 7th Group Chapel, when he and harpist daughter Katie teamed up for the dedication of that special facility.
