Need sleep? You’ll want to skip this Florida city that was named #1 in the nation for snoring and a top 5 for night owls.
So Florida is the snore capital of the United States, but did you know sleepers in Jacksonville snore more than five times a night?
That’s more frequent than the national average, which is about 2.65 snores a night, according to a study by Withings, a company that makes health measure products such as scales and activity-tracking watches.
And get this — Jacksonville residents had snore sessions that reached up to 1 hour and 12 minutes.
The study also showed two Florida cities — Miami and Jacksonville — stayed up later than most, placing them in the top five list for night owls.
Here’s how the cities rank on the list of the latest average bedtimes in the nation:
The high level of snoring is correlated to a person’s body mass index (BMI). The higher the BMI, the more likely a person is to be a heavy snorer — hence the reason why men are two times more likely to be heavy snorers than women — the study reports.
