The Destin Fire Control District got "in the trenches" during a rescue technician class recently.

Members from the Ocean City-Wright Fire Control District and South Walton Fire Control District joined Destin Fire in the technician level trench rescue course, the press release from the Destin Fire Control District said.

The training, which was held at the Destin Water Users facility, included stabilizing and rescuing possible victims in a trench or confined space emergency. It was the third of five technical rescue disciplines the department incorporated into its operation in hopes to expand the advanced level of training for the firefighters.

National Rescue Consultants led the course. They hold some of the highest levels of advanced technical rescue training in the country, the press release said.
