DEFUNIAK — A local man and woman were arrested Saturday morning in a police chase sparked by reckless driving.

The DeFuniak Springs Police Department arrested 28-year-old Allen Michael Walker and 32-year-old Amanda Nicole Tyson, both of DeFuniak Springs, according to a press release from the city.

The pair was seen driving reckless on North 1st Street. Officers conducted a traffic stop on a late model white Ford Ranger, but the driver, Walker, attempted to elude police. As the pursuit continued, Walker drove erratically for several minutes before striking a parked car on North 11th Street.

Walker then fled on foot and was apprehended by officers almost immediately, the press release said. The female passenger, Tyson, was found to have an active arrest warrant for failure to appear out of Walton County. During an inventory of the vehicle, numerous items of drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine were located along with scales.

Both subjects were arrested and taken to the Walton County Jail.

Walker is being held on a $27,000 bond and Tyson was given “no bond” on her charges.
