SANTA ROSA BEACH — A local lifestyle brand continues to carve its wake into the South Walton scene.

Whether you're into paddle boarding, riding bikes or watching the sunset, the owners of Coast Hippie said they've got you covered.

Located on County Road 30A behind Cowgirl Kitchen, the brand opened about a year ago and is run by sisters Jessica Burch and Tammy Perkins. While Perkins handles the business side of things, Burch designs the gear, and the two said they're the perfect team.

"If you cut out of work early on Friday and wear your bathing suit all weekend, you're a Coast Hippie," said Burch, who added their brand is designed for nearly any activity and all ages.

Having worked for other clothing companies, it was only natural for them to create their own concept, they said.

The sisters added that their brand — which they designed to be "as soft as possible" — is now sold in 11 stores across six states.

"The only challenge that we have is that we're trying to do whole sale out of this space and it's kind of too small," Perkins said. "We're looking at warehouse space because we're going to need something bigger."

The Walton County residents of more than a decade said they're originally from the Gulf Coast, but spent some time in the Midwest before returning home. They said that while a mountain view is nice, life away from the beach made them realize they were beach bums at heart.

Looking ahead, they hoped to continue expanding their white-sanded footprint nationwide. This fall, they also plan to set up a booth at Surf Expo 2019.

"A lot of the (other) beach brands are more just 30A centered, so we kind of went for the broader appeal of the whole beach, the whole coastal lifestyle and not just a certain area," Burch said.
