SANTA ROSA BEACH — A 26-year-old Panama City man has died after a single-vehicle crash in Walton County early Tuesday morning.

Richard Youd was traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 98 about 12:40 a.m. when his 2002 Toyota Tundra veered off the road onto the north shoulder, according to a report from Florida Highway Patrol.

Youd tried to regain control of the truck and overcorrected. His vehicle overturned in the center of the highway, FHP said. He was taken to Bay Medical Center and died as a result of his injuries.

The crash happened near the U.S. Highway 98 and Serenoa Road intersection, according to the Walton County Sheriff's Office who assisted FHP.

Youd was wearing a seatbelt and alcohol is not believed to be a factor, according to FHP.

Westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 98 were shutdown for at least two hours as Florida Highway Patrol investigated the crash, according to a Facebook post by the Sheriff's Office.
