A 23-year-old DeFuniak Springs man was seriously injured Halloween night when he turned into the path of another vehicle on U.S. Highway 90.
The driver of the vehicle he struck was also seriously injured.
The accident happened just before 8 p.m., when Tyler Hughes was traveling south on Girl Scout Road and approaching its intersection with U.S. Highway 90.
He was driving a semi-truck hauling a flatbed trailer loaded with lumber, according to the Florida Highway Patrol media release.
When he turned east onto the highway, he collided head-on with a 2002 Volvo semi driven by 40-year-old Charlie Carter of Houston, Texas.
Carter’s vehicle overturned.
Hughes was charged with violation of right-of-way.
