According to Samantha Elaine Bishop’s arrest report, deputies received an anonymous tip about animal abuse taking place at a Hinote Road residence.
The caller said that they would find three dogs in a pen in the back yard, but that one was already dead. The other two would be "almost dead" or in bad condition, the report said.
Deputies found the pen, which held only two dogs at the time. Both had bones protruding through their skin, the report said.
A light-colored dog was barely breathing and passed away while they were at the home, the report said.
Animal control took away the dead dog and the other dog.
Bishop told authorities that she had a third dog at her house and that he was fine.
She said the dogs were hers and that she had been feeding them.
She was charged with two counts of animal cruelty resulting in death.
The surviving dog has gained six pounds and is living in a foster home.
Although Bishop’s address is in Crestview, the property is located in Walton County.
