DEFUNIAK SPRINGS — A woman was sent flying through the air after being struck by a sports utility vehicle while trying to cross a highway on Friday, authorities say.

The woman, whose identity was not released, walked into U.S. Highway 90 in DeFuniak Springs and was hit by the SUV.

The incident happened Friday at 5:45 p.m., according to a press release from the DeFuniak Springs Police Department.

The woman was taken to Fort Walton Beach Medical Center where she was listed in critical condition.
