Life is going to be different in the days ahead, Florida officials said.

Gov. Ron DeSantis is in Miami, giving the latest information about coronavirus in Florida.

The number of confirmed cases is growing quickly, with 26 cases reported as of this morning. There have been two deaths in the state, and another 476 are being monitored.

DeSantis said he was strongly advising Florida municipalities to consider limiting large gatherings.

Earlier Thursday, Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez declared a local state of emergency and ordered the cancellation of all mass gatherings amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Eighty percent of residents who get COVID-19 will have mild cases and may not even know they have it, officials at the news conference said.

The state is focusing on those most at risk: those over the age of 60 with serious medical conditions.
