A front is expected to move through the area Tuesday morning, bringing with it some strong thunderstorms, weather forecasters say.

Forecasters are warning of a possibility of severe weather for the western Florida Panhandle on Tuesday.

A strong cold front is expected to move through the area that morning, and the atmospheric environment will be conducive to the formation of strong to severe thunderstorms in the region, according to the Mobile office of the National Weather Service.

It looks like high wind gusts will be the primary threat, although the Weather Service doesn’t rule out the possibility of a tornado or large hail.

The chance of rain that day is 90 percent.

The front is expected to move through and clear the area by afternoon, with temperatures falling into the low 50s.

Highs for the remainder of the week will be in the low to mid-70s.
