Dressing Room opens at Market Shops
South Walton's women now have a new boutique shop to peruse when searching for that perfect outfit to wear to upcoming parties -- The Dressing Room.
Abbie Reeves and her husband Jonathan opened the boutique clothing store on Oct. 24.
Reeves describes the shop as a clothing/accessory store for women anywhere between the ages of 15 and 55.
"We try not to fall into a niche but to appeal to every woman," said Reeves. "We carry classic styles but with a twist with more trendy options appropriate for any season."
Reeves owned a store in Colorado before moving back to the Gulf Coast. From Biloxi, she moved back to the coast three years ago.
Reeves said she saw a need for a boutique for local women because what she was seeing was that so much falls into the tourist niche or a specific age group.
"I've always had a passion for fashion design and marketing. I wanted to see something that focuses more on locals," she said. "And I wanted to get back to the philosophy that a great wardrobe doesn't have to break the bank."
Prices at The Dressing Room range from $18 for some jewelry pieces up to $128 for some coats.
Reeves also sees another need.
In February, she will add footwear and formal wear at The Dressing Room.
"The other thing I am seeing is people can't find what they need in formal wear here without having to go to Dothan or Panama City for something that is not going to be the exact same thing other women will be wearing to events. Selection here is limited," she said.
The Dressing Room is located at The Market Shops at Sandestin and open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and closed Sundays during the winter. During the tourist season, hours will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sundays.
