Emerald Coast Middle School was the recipient of nine pieces of top-of-the line gym and workout equipment recently when Grayton Beach Fitness owner Paul Hunter saw the need.

Hunter said the equipment is used for strengthening and training, including leg press, leg extension, leg curl, seated leg curl, chest press, hip adduction, and others.

The equipment was used at Hunter's Grayton Beach Fitness and he was replacing it with new pieces.

"I checked on trading it in on the new pieces and it would have been good, but I knew the community could use it if I donated it," said Hunter. "I have known Coach Parker for 15 years and wanted to give him an advantage. The school had nothing like this. I think he has put it to good use."

Willie Parker is the physical education teacher and cross country coach at Emerald Coast Middle School. He also teaches track and field at South Walton High School. Both schools will be able to use the equipment.

"I have been trying to help kids learn how to workout correctly," said Parker. "We had some equipment, but nothing like this. There was a need. This is very impressive. Paul has always helped the school."

The equipment is valued at $10,000.
