ECMS retreat

The Emerald Coast Meditation Society will host a day of silent meditation and quiet activities from 6:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. at the Coastal Branch Library, 437 Greenway Trail in Santa Rosa Beach to honor solstice that takes place Dec. 21. It is the final ECMS daylong retreat in a series that began in December 2009. Anyone who meditates is welcome to attend all or any part of the retreat. Register by Dec. 20 at or call 231-1498.

Biophilia Center

Baytowne on Ice

The ice skating rink at The Village of Baytowne Wharf will be open through Jan. 31 at the Apex Broadcasting Skating Pavilion. For $10 guests can skate for an hour and a half. Skate rental is $2. Topsail tour

Biophilia Center

Hike one of the several trails throughout the day and learn about the native flora and fauna of the Longleaf Pine Ecosystem at the E.O. Wilson Biophilia Center.
