Emerald Coast Theatre Co. presents Educational Theatre

Staff Report

MIRAMAR BEACH — 'Tis the season to be grateful for … live entertainment.

Emerald Coast Theatre Company (ECTC) continues its eighth annual season in November with three "Annie Kids" and "Legally Blonde Jr."

“We love the season of giving. What better way to show the ones you love you care than to enjoy an evening of family-friendly theater. We are proud of our talented ECTC theater kids. They are passionate and put their entire hearts into their efforts on stage as well as behind the scenes,” said Nathanael Fisher ECTC co-founder and producing artistic director.

Emerald Coast Theatre Co.'s Educational Theatre program elementary students bring "Annie Kids" to the stage in November.

ECTC’s Educational Theatre program elementary students present "Annie Kids," one of Broadway’s most beloved family-friendly musical comedy classics. Performances are at 7 p.m. Nov. 6 and at 2 and 7 p.m. Nov. 7 at ECTC’s location at 560 Grand Boulevard, in Sandestin. ECTC’s outreach program in DeFuniak Springs has performances at the Florida Chautauqua Theatre at 7 p.m. Nov. 21 and 2 p.m. Nov. 22.

With equal measures of pluck and positivity, "Annie Kids" follows little orphan Annie, who charms everyone's hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930s New York City. Annie is determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of an orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan. Throw in a grumpy billionaire and an adorable dog named Sandy and audiences have something to smile about.

Teens in Emerald Coast Theatre Co.'s Education Theatre program perform "Legally Blonde Jr.: The Musical" in November.

Next in the ECTC Educational Theatre series is "Legally Blonde Jr.: The Musical." Performances are at 7 p.m. Nov. 12-13; 2 p.m., 4:30 and 7 p.m. Nov. 14; and at 2 and 4:30 p.m. Nov. 15 in ECTC's performance space in Grand Boulevard at Sandestin.

Performed by ECTC thespian teens, "Legally Blonde Jr." follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes, snobbery and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. Elle takes matters into her own hands by crafting a showy song-and-dance personal essay and charming her way into law school. As Elle begins outsmarting her peers, she realizes law might be her natural calling after all." Legally Blonde Jr." features talented teens in this energetic musical that’s fun for the entire family.
