Free movie night: The DeFuniak Springs Special Events Committee will present “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” on the big screen at 7:30 p.m. in the amphitheatre at the Lakeyard. Food vendors will provide a full range of choices. Call 892-8500.

Topsail tour: Learn about the rare coastal dune lakes from 9-10 a.m. at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park in Santa Rosa Beach. Call 267-8330. 

Baytowne LIVE: Enjoy free music with Stevie Hall Aug. 7, 11 and 14 and Chris Alvarado Aug. 13 at the Village of Baytowne Wharf on Adventure Lane, across from Blast Arcade and Laser Maze.

Saturday, Aug. 8

Topsail tour: Have Breakfast with a Ranger from 9-10 a.m. at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park in Santa Rosa Beach. To cover the cost of food, please bring $5 which goes to Friends of Topsail Hill Preserve State Park to enhance the park or bring your own breakfast. Call 267-8330. 

Audubon Society: Tom Greene, a recognized authority on rare Florida plants, will lead a walk in the pine flatwoods of South Walton County. Meet at 9 a.m. at the Walmart on Hwy. 98 near Sandestin on the portion of the parking lot adjacent to the highway.  Please wear walking shoes, long pants, and a hat, and bring water, sunscreen and insect repellent. Blessings: Bring your school backpacks to Good News United Methodist Church and place them at the altar during both services. There will be a special blessing of the backpacks to prepare kids for school and also a special prayer time for all the teachers.

Sunday Cinema: Enjoy a free family friendly movie, "Cars," under the stars at 8 p.m. on the Events Plaza lawn at The Village of Baytowne Wharf.

Gulf Place Concerts: Gulf Place on 30A at Santa Rosa Beach presents a free summer concert series with Neil Dover from 7-9 p.m. in the Amphitheater, Scenic Hwy. 30-A and Hwy. 393. Monday, Aug. 10

Look Good, Feel Better: American Cancer Society “Look Good, Feel Better” offers a free workshop for women who are currently undergoing treatment for cancer from 5-7 p.m. at Sacred Heart Cancer Center adjacent to Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast. Participants must register through the American Cancer Society at 800-227-2345.

Groovin’ On The Green: The Carillon Beach Institute presents a free concert with Luke Pinegar & Friends from 7-9 p.m. at the Village Green. Food and beverage vendors will be on site.

Tuesday, Aug. 11

Summer Reels: Bring blankets and low-back chairs to enjoy "Winnie the Pooh" under the stars from 8-10 p.m. in the Alys Beach Amphitheatre. Piper’s will offer food and beverages.

Boomin' Tuesday: Enjoy lawn games, inflatables, and kids activities from 7-9 p.m. in the Events Plaza at Baytowne Wharf in Sandestin. Fireworks at 9:15 p.m.

Wednesday, Aug. 12

Seaside Summer Concerts: Celebrate the summer season at 7 p.m. with Forrest Williams in the Seaside Amphitheater.

Summer Concert Series: Enjoy the music of Heritage from 7-9 p.m. in the Alys Beach Amphitheatre. Piper’s will offer food and beverages.

Wednesday Night Concert Series: Listen to a free concert with the music of the Stephen Simmons from 7-9 p.m. in the Events Plaza at Baytowne Wharf in Sandestin.

Thursday, Aug. 13

Moonlight & Movies: Bring blankets and lawn chairs for the movie "Honey, I Shrunk the Kids" under the stars from 8:15-10 p.m. on the Western Green in Rosemary Beach.

Americana Under The Stars: Bring a chair and a beverage to enjoy the music of Lucky Mud at 7 p.m. in the amphitheater at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park in Santa Rosa Beach. Free admission into park and a suggested donation of $5 goes to the Friends of Topsail Hill.

Diabetes class: Jenny Stuckey, registered nurse and certified diabetes educator, and Anne Townley, registered dietician and certified diabetes educator, will host a self-management class from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Resource Center Suite 1 education building at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast.
