Tree House opens for school year

Special to The Sun

The Tree House Episcopal Montessori School in Santa Rosa Beach opened its doors Aug. 17 to 65 students in grade Pre-K through Lower Elementary. The school is in its sixth year, started in 2010 as an outreach of Christ the King Episcopal Church

Director Maureen Paine and Fr. Richard Proctor (or “Father Proc” as the kids call him) greeted the students. Father Proc has been the new rector at Christ the King Episcopal Church since June 2015.

He blessed The Tree House classrooms with holy water using a tree branch. Students asked questions like “Why do you use water for blessings?” and “Bless the class pets!” All class pets were blessed: Cheesy the hamster, the fish aquariums, and Coconut the guinea pig.
