DESTIN -- After trailing at the half, the Freeport Bulldogs came back in the second half to pull off a 34-33 win on the road against the Rocky Bayou Christian Knights played at host field Destin Middle School.

"I'm just really proud of our guys," said Freeport Coach Jim Anderson as he walked off the field.

"We did it because we have confidence in our guys. We only have four seniors, but we wanted to win it for them."

David Godwin led the senior Bulldogs with 107 yards on the ground and two touchdowns, a 54-yarder and a 10-yard run. Godwin also had a kickoff return for an 84-yard score.

Freeport senior Matthew Blair got the Bulldogs on the board first with a 36-yard field goal.

The other two senior Bulldogs are Phillip Johnson and lineman Caleb Powell.

"We're just happy to get the win," Anderson said. "But our hats go off to Rocky Bayou."

While Freeport earned the majority of their yardage on the ground, 266 yards, Rocky did it through the air.

At the start of the third quarter, Freeport blocked a Rocky punt and then scored three plays later on a 2-yard run up the middle by Zack Seay. The two-point try failed.

Freeport took the lead midway of the third on a 10-yard run by Godwin. The two-point play failed.
