Electric Cart Company debuts bus at parade

Special to The Sun

The annual South Walton Holiday Parade on Nov. 29 will debut a solar-powered, all-electric 14-seat bus, the first of its kind in this area.

The Electric Cart Company, based in Santa Rosa Beach, is entering the green, zero-emission shuttle to show off the 2015 model. These shuttles can travel a significant distance, ensuring a full day of operation.

Tom Waldrop, co-founder of the Electric Cart Company, said, “The holiday parade is a way to show this vehicle in action in a fun way as well as support the Seaside community events. We are finding increased requests for alternative transportation solutions for the congested beach areas. This solar bus is cost effective to run, and can reduce dependency on cars in a resort area. Our location and climate are perfect for electric vehicles.”

The annual South Walton Holiday Parade tradition begins at 4 p.m. in front of Seagrove Plaza. Residents and visitors share in the glory as participants proceed 1.5 miles down County Road 30A from Seagrove decked in their Christmas best on festive holiday floats. The parade ends in Seaside as visitors welcome Santa and Mrs. Claus to town.
