Special to The Sun
Patrick Owens, who had escaped custody in Holmes County, has been captured.

UPDATE: The escapee from Holmes County, 34-year-old Patrick Owens, has been arrested in the area of Lake View Road in DeFuniak Springs by Walton County Sheriff’s Deputies at approximately 4:30pm.

Owens had ran from a work detail on Aug. 18 while in custody, as was first reported by WCSO.

Two other females have been taken into custody at this time. More information is to follow.

On July 30, WCSO deputies went to serve an out-of-county (Holmes) warrant on Owens at his home off Rupert Ray Road. Owens caught glimpse of deputies coming toward him behind his home and ran south into the wood line. A short foot pursuit ensued and Owens was later caught and arrested.

Owens was subsequently charged with resisting without violence in addition to the charges out of Holmes County. He was transported and booked in the Walton County Jail then extradited to Holmes County to face charges there.
