Two men were arrested Tuesday in Escambia County on suspicion of human trafficking after state troopers said they found two people hiding inside their vehicle during a traffic stop.

Julio Cesar Aguilar Moreno, 37, and Jose Ivan Morales Hernandez, 24, were both charged with human trafficking, and Moreno was additionally charged with driving without a license.

Both men were booked into the Escambia County Jail on Tuesday afternoon and were held in custody under holds from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency.

When troopers stopped the men's 2011 Cadillac Escalade on Interstate 10 near mile marker 3 for a traffic violation, they discovered all of the occupants were foreign nationals and neither Moreno nor Hernandez were linked to the vehicle, according to a news release from Florida Highway Patrol.

Authorities said Moreno became "evasive" during questioning and they obtained consent to search the car.

During the search, troopers found two people hiding between the rear hatch and the third row seats, according to FHP. Multiple items linking the two men to human trafficking were also allegedly found in the car.

The two people found inside the car were turned over to ICE.
