FREEPORT— More than eight grams of cocaine were discovered after a K-9 alerted during a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 331 on Monday.

Walton County Sheriff’s Office deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at 9:30 p.m. After the K-9 unit indicated there were drugs in the car, deputies searched and found 14 individual bags containing cocaine inside a pill bottle in the center console.

The cocaine weighed a total of 8.6 grams.

Deputies also located $2,659 in cash in the suspect’s possession and additional bags matching the ones containing cocaine.

Adalberto Castanedo, 34, was arrested for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, along with a driver’s license violation.

Additional charges may be filed, WCSO said.
