Firefighters battle multiple blazes in Ponce de Leon

PONCE DE LEON — Firefighters from multiple agencies were called to a residential structure fire Friday night.

At 6:22 p.m. firefighters arrived at a home on Walton County Highway 183 South to find two motor homes and one fifth-wheel camper trailer fully engulfed, according to a press release from Walton County Fire Rescue.

Thje fires were extinguished within 30 minutes before the flames could spread to a nearby barn, the release said.

The recreation vehicles were unoccupied and there were no injuries.

Firefighters from Walton County Fire Rescue, Argyle Volunteer Fire Department, DeFuniak Springs Fire Department, Liberty Volunteer Fire Department, and deputies from the Sheriff’s Office responded to the fire.

The State Fire Marshal’s office was contacted to investigate the cause.
