DESTIN -- The organizers of the 42nd Annual Destin Seafood Festival, scheduled for October 2-4, 2020, have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s event, according to a statement on their website.

“Given the uncertainty of this unprecedented global situation and the economic hardships facing our partners, our team feels that this is the most responsible choice based on the information we have today,” the statement said, in part.

The Destin Seafood Festival is the kickoff event for the annual Destin Fishing Rodeo, which spans the entire month of October.

Despite the cancellation of the Destin Seafood Festival, the Destin Fishing Rodeo will proceed as scheduled. Details can be found on their website destinfishingrodeo.org.

“We look forward to resuming the Destin Seafood Festival -bigger and better than ever -October 1-3, 2021,” the statement said.

The Destin Seafood Festival is one of Destin’s most celebrated traditions. Started in 1978 by the Destin Charter Boat Association Women’s Auxiliary, the Destin Seafood Festival remains the primary fundraiser for the Destin Charter Boat Association.
