OCSO investigating dozens of shots fired Sunday night in Lovejoy area

Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to calls of someone shooting dozens of rounds in the area of Marler Street and Shirley Drive off Lovejoy Road on Sunday evening.

The incident occurred shortly before 7 p.m., according to an OCSO news release.

Witnesses reported hearing numerous shots and seeing people dressed in black running in the neighborhood. Several vehicles were struck by bullets and deputies found numerous spent casings in the area, according to the release.

The OCSO has not reported any injuries associated with the incident.

About the same time the shots were fired, dispatchers received calls about a white Toyota leaving the area, then backing into a parking area off Classic Court. Two men dressed in black were seen running from the car.

A deputy spotted a man wearing black running and made contact with him.

The man, identified as 26-year-old Markell Bush of Fort Walton Beach, denied knowledge of the incident or car. However, he had the car's keys in his pocket, according to the release. Bush said he was visiting a friend but could not provide an address. He was charged with loitering and prowling.

Okaloosa County Sheriff's deputies recovered numerous spent casings from a neighborhood off Lovejoy where men dressed in black reportedly shot up several cars Sunday evening.
