WCSO: Cantonment man calls 911 to say he stabbed DeFuniak Springs woman
DeFUNIAK SPRINGS — A man who called 911 late Wednesday afternoon to say he had stabbed a woman in the neck has been charged with homicide, according to a Walton County Sheriff's Office news release.
Thomas McDonald, 35, of Cantonment, was charged in the death of a 68-year-old woman at a home on McLeod Road. The victim's name had not been released as of Thursday morning.
When McDonald reported the stabbing, he "stated the victim was beyond help," according to the news release.

McDonald called the Sheriff's Office about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday. When deputies arrived, they found the victim "seated in a chair deceased with a knife wound to her neck," the news release stated.
McDonald was taken into custody at the scene at 6 p.m. following the execution of a search warrant at the home and the subsequent issuance of an arrest warrant.

At his first court appearance Thursday morning, McDonald was denied bond and he remains in the Walton County Jail. No mugshot of McDonald was available through the jail as of Thursday morning.
An arrest report from the Walton County Sheriff's Office provided little detail about the stabbing. The arresting deputy simply noted that he "came into contact with the defendant," subsequently detained him, "and a warrant for his arrest was completed."
McDonald was transported to jail without incident, the report also noted.
