2 killed in traffic crash on U.S. 90 in Walton County

MOSSY HEAD — Two people were killed Friday afternoon in a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 90, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred shortly before 1:30 p.m. near Wilderness Road just east of Mossy Head. A sedan carrying three people was heading east on U.S. 90 in the westbound lane as a semitrailer was heading west, the FHP reported in a news release.

Two killed in crash

The semi's driver, a 60-year-old man from DeFuniak Springs, noticed the car heading toward him and tried to avoid a collision, but struck the front of the car, the FHP said.

The car was knocked onto the road's westbound shoulder and the semi stopped on the eastbound shoulder.

Two passengers in the car, a 46-year-old man from Crestview and a 38-year-old man from Navarre, were killed. The car's driver, a 46-year-old man from Fort Walton Beach, suffered critical injuries, according to the FHP.

The semi driver suffered minor injuries.

The FHP did not identify the people involved in the crash.
