Okaloosa firefighters extinguish large fire threatening homes on Willow Bend Boulevard

FORT WALTON BEACH — Multiple fire departments responded to a brush fire Thursday evening after an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputy spotted the blaze near the Willow Bend area in Wright.

The fire reportedly started at around 4:51 p.m. on the north side of Willow Bend Boulevard, spread rapidly toward the edge of the road and threatened homes on the south side of the street, according to a report by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

Firefighters from the Ocean City-Wright Fire Control District and the Fort Walton Beach Fire Department reportedly responded and were able to extinguish most of the blaze.

Firefighters spent the rest of the evening dousing hot spots.

No injuries or property damage was reported.
