Destin Rotary Spring Butt Rubb Fundraiser supports local charities

Special to the Destin Log/USA TODAY NETWORKJ

DESTIN — The Rotary Club of Destin has announced the Spring 2021 Butt Rubb is back.

Rotary volunteers rub (with a secret blend of spices), smoke, pull, shred and cook approximately 180 pork butts and then bag them for the customer’s convenience.

Rotary members are now taking orders that will be ready for pickup Saturday, April 10. The cost is $25 for a half butt and $45 for a butt that weighs approximately five pounds before smoking.

Through the funds raised from this season’s event, the Destin Rotary Club will support various charities including Food For Thought, Harvest House Destin, the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation (MKAF) and the Boys and Girls Club of Okaloosa County.

The Rotary Club of Destin is known for its smoked pork butts, which have won many awards over the years. They are fully smoked and shredded and ready-to-eat once purchased.

Destin Rotary Club participates in 2019 Smoke on the Coast.

To purchase, order from any Destin Rotary Club member, order online at destinrotary.com or through a link on the Rotary Club of Destin Facebook page.

“Destin Rotarians are engaged more than ever in this fundraiser to help four local charities whose initiatives are a perfect fit for the club’s mission of eradicating hunger and educational outreach to empower populations serving youth, special needs and wounded soldiers in our community," said Club President Clayton Hicks.

"We are continually engaged in helping fund the massive needs of the club’s charitable causes, and appreciate all of the sponsors and the community for also supporting this great endeavor," he added. "We continue to make a difference in our community even during challenging times.”

The Rotary Club of Destin represents approximately 60 business women and men who are committed to “Service Above Self” and whose mission is to positively change lives through service … across the street and around the world. Their emphasis is on eradicating hunger and supporting education in their community and internationally.

The Rotary Club meets online and every Tuesday at 7:15 a.m. at Rutherford’s 465 at Regatta Bay Golf & Country Club.
