Pensacola youth pastor arrested, accused of hiding camera in church bathroom
A Pensacola youth pastor has been arrested on suspicion of placing a hidden surveillance camera in a church bathroom.
David Patrick Nims, 37, was arrested Monday and charged with one second-degree felony count of video voyeurism by an adult responsible for the welfare of a child younger than 16.
The Escambia County Sheriff's Office announced Nims' arrest on social media and noted he was a youth pastor at Calvary Baptist Church on Pine Forest Road in Pensacola.
Deputies responded to the church Sunday after receiving a complaint about a hidden camera in one of the church's bathrooms, according to a Facebook post.
Investigators assigned to the ECSO's Special Victims Unit immediately began an investigation and identified Nims as their primary suspect, according to the post.
The case remains under investigation and more charges are possible, according to the ECSO.
Anyone who thinks they may be a victim of Nims' or who knows a possible victim is asked to call the ECSO at 850-436-9620.
