CORONAVIRUS: Almost 300 more cases confirmed statewide, Okaloosa and Walton confirm more cases

The Florida Department of Health has issued the latest coronavirus numbers for the Northwest Florida area and state as of the 5 p.m. CST update.

— Okaloosa climbed to 18, two more than Wednesday morning’s report

— Walton climbed to 13, one more from Wednesday morning’s report.

— Santa Rosa has 8 confirmed cases.

— Bay County has a total of 3 cases.

There are a total of 1,977 confirmed cases in Florida and 23 deaths associated with the virus up 295 from Wednesday morning’s 1,682 cases reported.

Many restaurants are staying positive on social media with helpful posts about how people can still support local businesses and receive quality items people are used to getting.

Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS) was nearly empty on Wednesday as flights were canceled and staff was sanitizing airport surfaces.

Parents and local educators have begun plans for remote education of students as people in cars lined up to collect packets, iPads and Chromebooks for their children to continue their education during the pandemic.
