Live: Gov. Ron DeSantis holds press conference, coronavirus updates
Governor Ron DeSantis’ press conference regarding COVID-19 on Tuesday, April 14.
As of Monday evening there were 499 coronavirus-related deaths per the Florida Department of Health.
The DOH also reported that as of Monday’s advisory the total number of confirmed cases for the state is 21,019 with each county reporting at least one case. Of the confirmed cases 2841 have been or had been admitted to the hospital.
A majority of the state's reported hospitalizations are patients in the age range of 65-84, which also is the age group most associated with the state's rising death toll.
Approximately 200,000 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in Florida, and 177,786 have been negative, according to the data. The percent of those testing positive for COVID-19 is 11 percent as of April 11.
The state Department of Health does not currently measure “recovery,” and doesn't expect to have such a designation anytime in the near future, adding that the definition of recovery is a contested issue.
"Until some of these issues and definitions are worked out at the local, state and national level, we will not be providing a metric for recovery," the agency said.
