LYNN HAVEN — Savannah Marie Wilkes, 31, of Lynn Haven has been arrested and charged with felony child abuse and drug possession.

According to a release posted on the Lynn Haven Police’s Facebook page, officers, along with members of the Lynn Haven Fire & Emergency Services Department and Paramedics from Bay County Emergency Medical Services, responded to a Lynn Haven apartment on Thursday afternoon regarding a report of an unresponsive infant who was having difficulty breathing.

Paramedics were ultimately forced to administer Narcan to the 13-month-old child to treat the effects of an apparent drug overdose. The child was taken to a local hospital where he was admitted for treatment.

Wilkes was arrested following an investigation and charged with aggravated child abuse, illegal possession of a prescription drug, possession of a controlled substance (opiates) and possession of drug paraphernalia, after a small quantity of suspected opiates and prescription pain pills were found by investigators during a search of her home.

Wilkes was taken to the Bay County Jail, where she is being held pending her first appearance before a local Judge.

The investigation is continuing. Lynn Haven Police are being assisted by Child Protective Investigators from the Florida Department of Children and Families.
