MARY ESTHER — Two people face drug possession and child neglect charges after they were allegedly found unresponsive in a vehicle with narcotics and a 5-month-old infant, according to an Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office news release.
On Wednesday, Navarre area residents Randy Smith, 23, and Alexis Freeman, 22, were found unconscious in a car in a parking lot off Page Bacon Road in Mary Esther, according to the release.

Drug paraphernalia was reportedly in plain view, and a search of the vehicle by sheriff's deputies revealed two loaded syringes which tested positive for fentanyl, with a total weight of 31 grams, the release said. About 1 gram of heroin also was located along with numerous controlled prescription medications, OCSO officials reported.
The baby, who had been removed from the car by concerned bystanders before deputies arrived, was evaluated and found to be uninjured, the release said. The child reportedly had been unrestrained and within reach of the paraphernalia.
Smith and Freeman face charges including trafficking in fentanyl, possession of heroin and oxycodone, and child neglect. Okaloosa County Jail records indicate both Smith and Freeman were each released on $11,000 bond.
