President Trump and first lady Melania Trump wrapped up a three-day Palm Beach weekend by hosting an annual Super Bowl party on Sunday at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach.

The first couple maintained tradition, inviting a local marching band to perform before the game. It was the second time Florida Atlantic University’s marching band and cheerleaders performed for the first couple, entertaining them with “Old Town Road” by Lil Nas X and “Born to be Wild” by Steppenwolf.

The first couple’s son, Barron, joined them at the party. But Trump’s two other sons, Donald Jr. and Eric, skipped the president’s party in West Palm Beach and opted for the real thing in Miami. They were joined by Eric’s wife, Lara, and former Fox News personality Kimberly Guilfoyle, who is dating Don, Jr. Also at the Super Bowl was Trump campaign chair Brad Parscale.

The president and first lady left the party after the third quarter to return to Washington for a week of headline political happenings.

On Monday, Democratic voters in Iowa will kick off the 2020 primary season by casting votes in the traditional statewide caucus following a year’s worth of campaigning that started with two dozen candidates and witnessed a half dozen televised debates. On Wednesday, the U.S. Senate has scheduled a final vote in the impeachment trial that is widely expected to conclude in Trump’s acquittal.

Speaking to reporters at his Super Bowl party, the president said the end of the “impeachment will be very, very positive.”

Sandwiched between those events, the president will deliver the State of the Union address on Tuesday in the U.S. House of Representatives, with his political nemesis, Speaker Nancy Pelosi, sitting just behind him.

Trump and Pelosi were both in South Florida this weekend. Pelosi, who is from San Francisco, attended the Super Bowl to cheer for her hometown 49ers against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Trump and Pelosi did not cross paths, but the president spoke about Pelosi and her role in his impeachment by House Democrats during an interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity that was taped Saturday night at Mar-a-Lago.

“I think she’s a very confused, very nervous woman. I don’t think she wanted to do this,” Trump said. “I think she really knew what was going to happen and it’s her worst nightmare has happened. I don’t think she’s going to be there too long, either. I think that the radical left — and she’s sort of radical left, too, by the way — but I think the radical left is going to take over.”

Asked if he would delay the State of the Union speech until after the impeachment vote, Trump said he would not. And then he gave a glimpse of what he would highlight during the annual address.

“We’re gonna talk about the achievements that we’ve made,” he said. “Nobody has made achievements like we’ve made, so many different things, I’m so proud of what we’ve done for our vets with choice, we got them choice, we got them accountability, where we can take care of our vets. Where we can get rid of people who aren’t taking care of our vets.”

Pelosi did not immediately comment on Trump’s interview. But a pinned tweet on her Twitter account offered a rebuttal.

“The President has fought tooth-and-nail to keep thousands of documents away from the public. And no wonder — each time new pieces come out, they show President Trump right at the center of the effort to pressure Ukraine to investigate his political rivals,” the social media post read.

During the interview, the president also belittled Democratic presidential rival Michael Bloomberg’s height, saying he had to “negotiate” a box to stand on during the debates. “You can be short. Why should he get a box to stand on, okay?” Trump said.

Bloomberg’s campaign offered a scathing response: “The president is lying. He is a pathological liar who lies about everything: his fake hair, his obesity, and his spray-on tan.”

The president’s weekend was fairly typical for a Palm Beach stay. He spent time at his West Palm Beach golf club, even tweeting a photo of himself on the links.

On Saturday, the president spoke briefly at the Trumpettes fan club gala.
