LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Leaders should congratulate, not politicize
I served approximately 28 years in the Army on active duty and in the reserves.
Two things recently had my blood boiling: The first was President Trump, Vice President Pence, and Congressman Gaetz politicizing the deaths of two soldiers of Spanish descent by tweeting about their presence at the ceremony when the bodies of these two heroes were returned to their home country.
Why didn’t they, the president etc., use this as an opportunity to praise the heroics of people of Spanish descent instead of calling our brothers and sister of Spanish/Mexican origin drug traffickers and murderers ... an opportunity missed.
Secondly, if Congressman Gaetz and our two senators are so concerned with child care for the group, they should tell the president to stop taking construction money from the military to build his divisive wall on the border.
There is no wall going up to separate us from Canada.
