LETTERS: 100th Anniversary of Women's Right to Vote

Northwest Florida Daily News

Aug. 18 marked the 100-year-anniversary of the ratification of Women's Right to Vote.

It took the courage and determination of the Suffragettes to accomplish this monumental goal. Quoting the late Senator John Lewis, they made lots of "good trouble."

Free and fair elections are the cornerstone of any democracy. Anyone trying to thwart the integrity of our election or discourage people from voting is un-American. The current administration is rearranging (gutting)the United States Post Office less than 100 days before an election.

Letter to the Editor

The timing is certainly suspect considering the pandemic and the need for safe mail in voting. The 2020 November election is pivotal to our democracy, our standing in the world and the health of our planet. VOTE!

Prayers for Sheriff Johnson

We in Santa Rosa County are praying and hoping for a quick recovery for Sheriff Bob and the other LEO's, first responders, and citizens in our county whom have contracted Covid-19 and fell ill or died as a result.

Our county needs leaders like Sheriff Bob and I am just so very sad that simple precautions can prevent this type of thing from happening. Shame on our county commission whom have failed to take heed and act to do more for the residents of SRC's health.

Simple things like post CDC guidelines at entrances to all businesses in our county. Mandate mask wearing for inside of all businesses and business fines for non compliance. How much inconvenience is a life worth?

We can't get a redo of responses and non-responses to the pandemic. We can move forward, with honor, in our future in District 1. Sheriff Bob and the other LEO's who recently were infected, we in SRC pray again for your speedy recovery and health.

Santa Rosa County needs you in our drivers seat at the Sheriff's Office.

Joannie Parks, Navarre
